Spring Hazelcup (Encoelia furfuracea)

Erupting from under the bark on Hazel branches, this little thing is actually quite common but not often recorded because it’s quite hard to spot. In my experience it seems to prefer horizontal dead branches of Hazel which still have their bark not yet falling off, so not rotted. As it’s name suggests it’s most commonly found in the first part of the year.
